How I Work

My aim is to achieve the right feel and function for a space.

My role is to experience and understand the space; what you want, what impacts it and what it needs.

My goal is to find the paint colours that embrace what you love and have already (or will have if you’re renovating) to bring it all together.

I can quickly narrow down the colours that will work in a space and then illustrate them to you, in the consultation, to see and feel for yourself.

We work together to discuss the options; I make suggestions, you can ask any questions and ultimately you get the final say. At the end of the consultation, you will have a confirmed list of the agreed colours and finishes, for each surface. The

My hope is that people feel inspired, empowered and excited by how their home can feel and by what they can work with and keep. As such, clients regularly report feeling a renewed love and energy towards their home.

The span of paint brands that I work with has increased as I have searched for the nuance of colour between shades and tones, as well as different ingredients and finishes required for a project. I feel assured that I have the breadth of colours and paint finishes required, to show you what will work for your space.

I work independently and unaffiliated, which means I work across all the major paint brands, equally. This includes (but is not limited to) Edward Bulmer, COAT, Little Greene, Paint & Paper Library & Farrow & Ball. I have a particular interest in low-tox and clay paints (which come in an array of colours).

For more information about consultations see below. To contact me to book or discuss a consultation, fill in a contact form at the bottom of this page or go to the ‘Contact’ page.

Consultations range from half an hour to 2 hours.

The amount of time needed for a consultation can be discussed beforehand if need be, and costs will be agreed before the appointment.

Payment can be made at the end of the appointment by card machine.

I aim to do most consultations during the working day, to account for the rooms natural light. Weekends and evenings are available when possible.

I work mostly around Harpenden, St. Albans and the surrounding villages and can consider further afield for larger projects.

1 hour covers approximately 2-3 rooms, 2 hours will do 4-6 rooms, depending on the size and complexity of the spaces. I offer half hour appointments when there is a request for 1 room (only).

Whilst paint colours are the focus, I consider the larger textures, lighting, acoustics and furnishings in a space so general design ideas are discussed in person. I do not provide CAD scheme’s and or product lists retrospectively.

At the end of the consultation, I leave you with a card of confirmed paint colours and finishes for the specified rooms.

About My Clients

I work with people that want help with a paint colour and or palette, for a space or multiple rooms.

I like to work with people because most have an idea of what they like, even if they don’t know how to translate that in their home.

I work with people who have no idea or want help with their own ideas.

I work with people looking to change the use of room, the feel of a room … and those that don’t know what they want to do with a room.

To give you a taster of some of the people I have worked with;

  • Someone who wanted to make her living room her sanctuary; she had ideas and wanted help to pull it together

  • Someone who bought 13 tester pots but still didn’t know which colour to choose

  • Someone who wanted to branch out from the white walls across much of the house

  • Someone who was renovating and overwhelmed picking colours for each room

  • Someone who had their whole house newly refurbished, but the kitchen didn’t feel as hoped, but didn’t know which way to go to pull everything together

  • Someone who wanted help to find a similar but more fitting colour.

  • Someone who was selling their home and wanted to redecorate for a good sale and price.

  • Someone who had just moved house and wanted to personalise and refresh it without the cost and upheaval of a full renovation

No two situations are the same, so it’s likely your situation is none of the above.

The good news is I love a puzzle and I’m looking forward to seeing yours.
